Abstract

 


Introduction: 


To meet the demands for treatment in the increasing cases of chronic kidney disease, CLMMRH has implemented the Peritoneal Dialysis First program as mandated by the Department of Health. The mandate provides financial risk protection on the treatment for Kidney Diseases.  Through the assistance of PhilHealth Z- Package Program, patient must comply with the requirements during the initiation, maintenance, consultation, and home-visit phase . 


 


Objectives


This study aimed to determine the cost of the peritoneal dialysis program.


 


Material and Methods


Descriptive retrospective study on the cost of peritoneal dialysis program outlays the costs incurred from 2016- 2017. There are 62 patients enrolled in the PD program. Secondary data from the hospital information system were utilized as data source. 


 


Results:


Majority of the respondents are married adult males, of below poverty line, residing < 81 km in radius in Negros Occidental, individually paying PhilHealth members, with cardiovascular disease as co-morbidity. The highest cost incurred was the medical direct cost of P23,148,990.26 (94%) and the hospital incurred the highest cost (39.75%) than PhilHealth (36%) . The likely cost of P24,544,997.71 will be 28,454,379.50 in the next 5 years.


Conclusion:


Thus, the highest cost incurred is the hospital cost.
